Our veterinary business is long established and proudly independent – a mixed Practice based in and around Towcester, Northamptonshire. The equine department is split over 2 sites, with facilities located in Paulerspury (just outside Towcester) and at Onley Equestrian Centre (Warwickshire). We have a loyal and growing client base plus some exciting plans for the future development of our veterinary services. The equine team is around 30 strong, including 13 vets of varying experience – one of whom is currently in the running for ‘Vet of the Year’! In the role of Practice Manager you will have regular contact will all members of the team, working closely with the Equine Partners and HR Manager to ensure the smooth operational running of the department. You will be a key driver of the development of the business, and an active part of the wider management team which includes HR, Finance, Facilities, Marketing and IT specialists. Your leadership skills will be utilised daily to manage and support the Reception and Nursing teams, and you will take on specific responsibilities for rotas, billing/debt management and customer relationship management (including any complaints). However, no 2 days will be the same!
The position requires a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a varied and challenging skillset. Strong leadership skills combined with a willingness to learn and a passion for the veterinary industry are essential, plus an organised approach and excellent attention to detail. You will be juggling multiple issues, so will need to review and prioritise your workload constantly, maintaining the motivation to follow tasks through to completion. Problem solving will be required on a weekly basis, so the successful candidate will be both resourceful and resilient – often things don’t go as planned! Proven people skills are also key – you will need the ability to have sometimes difficult discussions with a variety of internal and external people, so it will help to be a persuasive communicator. All of our employees work with integrity and professionalism to ensure the business works as effectively and efficiently as possible. In addition to these qualities, the Practice Manager will be happy to work independently with limited direction. Therefore, proven experience in management is required, ideally gained within the veterinary industry. Equine knowledge would also be advantageous.
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 + benefits
