An exciting opportunity has arisen for a one year contract as maternity cover for our Nursing Manager at Clockhouse Veterinary Hospital. Our great and enthusiastic clinical team consists of 9 vets, 13 nurses and 4 VCA’s. The practice is located in the beautiful Cotswolds, close to Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath. Clockhouse is a very friendly, high standard first opinion team that fully works up medical cases and performs advanced surgical procedures e.g. TTA, perineal urethrostomy and laparascopic procedures. The hospital is well equipped with laparoscopy, endoscopy, ultrasound, radiography, echocardiography and on site lab with brand new biochemistry and haematology machines.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse to work in a friendly, relaxed and supportive team as part of a hospital status practice. Our vets carry out our own OOH work on site and we have two dedicated night nurses to cover OOH night shifts at the practice. You will have responsibility for overseeing the nurse and VCA teams including their rota, recruitment and individual appraisal. You will have responsibility for maintaining the clinical equipment in the hospital. You will attend regular meetings with the Clinical Director and practice manager to coordinate the smooth running of the practice.
The hours are full time (40 hours per week). You will have on average 3-4 days a week of clinical shifts and 1-2 days a week administrative shifts. You will be part of the rota to cover weekend day shifts with the other nursing staff. As well as the managerial responsibilities you will have nurse duties regarding inpatient, day or surgical patient care. Competitive salary package. CPD is actively encouraged and generously funded. We are looking for the successful candidate to start in May 2020. This will be a fixed term contract of 1 year for maternity cover. You must be a RVN with qualified nursing experience in small animal practice. It is essential the applicant has proven leadership experience. A previous management role is not essential but would be beneficial. The successful applicant will act as a role model to and teach other members of the nursing and VCA team. You must be able to motivate the team and promote the highest standard of care within the practice team.
