Pharmacy Manager – Frame, Swift and Partners, Carleton, Penrith, Cumbria

We are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Manager for our veterinary practice in Penrith.

You would be joining our established team of excellent support staff who help run the practice. The job will involve working alongside our experienced team of vets and nurses.

This position comes with a great deal of responsibility and requires the ability to ensure smooth running within a busy and varied practice providing care for pets, horses and farm animals.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator both with colleagues and clients, excellent at organising and enjoy a position with responsibility. They will help to design and implement new protocols within our pharmacy, while meeting the needs of our staff and clients, and helping us adhere to our legal obligations. The candidate will be able to work on their own initiative, to prioritise, and to multi-task.

The job role will include:

  • Stock control: ordering, unpacking, and checking stock, stock rotation, managing stock levels, managing expired drugs, stock takes etc.
  • Managing stock records, for example batch numbers and invoices.
  • Dispensing medications for pets during consultations, post surgery and for in-patients.
  • Advising clients in the safe use of medications
  • Communicating with vets to help with medication queries from clients
  • Implementation and use of digital data sheets, digital off licence forms
  • Stock ordering – both manual and automatic
  • Management of drug stock and protocols, including Controlled Drugs
  • Repeat prescription ordering
  • Sourcing specialist medication and chemotherapy drugs

This is a role working approximately 30 hours per week Monday to Friday. We can be flexible regarding daily working hours and start/finish times, within our opening hours of 8.30am to 6.30pm. The role may suit someone looking to work during school hours.

Previous veterinary experience is not essential, as we can provide both internal and external training. The ideal candidate will have some previous experience in systems and stock management (ideally in a pharmacy), have strong communication & numeracy skills combined with great attention to detail. They will need to have excellent IT skills and be adaptable to learn to use our practice management software.

Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications.
