Practice Manager (Part Time) – Companion Care Kidderminster, Worcestershire

Kidderminster Companion Care Vets are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, people person to take up the role of Practice Manager.

We are a friendly small animal practice situated in the Pets at Home store on the Crossley Retail Park.

Main Purpose of Role

  • To effectively manage the practice to enable the delivery of professional animal healthcare services and support the Joint Venture Partner in delivering the identified business objectives to maximise business potential
  • The Practice Manager effectively supports the Joint Venture Partner in identifying and implementing business objectives to maximise business potential.
  • Ensuring compliance of all policies, procedures and protocols within the practice to a consistent standard

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote participation of the WeCare survey and work with the Joint Venture Partner to ensure engagement score is in line with agreed target
  • Promote Great Conversations within the practice team through our behaviours of being courageous, honest, respectful, inspiring and supportive
  • Assist the Joint Venture Partner in carrying out people related activity such as recruitment, practice meetings and colleague relations
  • Work closely with all the key stakeholders to coordinate a joined up approach to develop and support colleagues
  • To coach/mentor and develop capabilities of the team
  • To ensure all appropriate inductions and probationary reviews are conducted in a timely manner
  • Agree CPD opportunities and tracking od cost for all colleagues
  • Manage and conduct performance reviews, annual appraisals and 121 meetings for the team with clear objectives
  • Ensure a healthy recruiting pipeline working closely with the recruitment team
  • Ensure colleagues receive the appropriate training to grow and develop with the business
  • Be a role model to the colleagues and actively promote the brand values
  • Ensure the effective use of practice resources and timely preparation of practice rotas
  • Adhere to all Vet Group policies and procedures
  • Comply with all Health & Safety protocols, procedures and policies
  • Hold regular practice meetings and capture and communicate key action points
  • Hold regular meetings with the Joint Venture Partner to identify and discuss issues and priorities
Person Specification


  • A Level educated or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • People Management experience and client/customer care experience
  • Assured, effective communicator who can build rapport quickly with the practice team
  • Be an effective team player able to work well with other toward common goals
  • Effective planning and organisation to prioritise workload and achieve timescales
  • Microsoft Office expertise
  • Previous experience of the veterinary, medical or care industry would be highly desirable but not essential.
