VMG CPD Course: Mental Health in the Veterinary Workplace

Our training initiative from the Veterinary Management Group (VMG) aims to educate veterinary leaders and managers on mental health in the workplace.

The course is delivered via our VMG’s online learning platform and can either be taken as a standalone CPD course, or as a module for those already undertaking our ILM-accredited veterinary leadership and management qualifications. The module includes online resources and reading materials and a case study-based online workshop to consolidate and contextualise the online learning materials.  The workshop covers employers’ obligations from the Equality Act, mental health, and reasonable adjustments.

On completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Assess your organisation’s approach towards mental health, and identify examples of good practice both within the veterinary sector and beyond
  • Assess your own mental wellbeing and its potential effect on others
  • Support a staff member with a mental health concern including appropriate communication, signposting, providing reasonable adjustments, return to work, and record-keeping
  • Critically evaluate your own ability to manage stress
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of an organisation in dealing with workplace stress, and identify and implement improvements.

The course consists of preparatory work, a live interactive workshop, self-directed online learning, and real-world coursework exercises to bring your new knowledge and skills to life.  On completion, you will receive a CPD certificate verifying 25 hours of CPD.

Cost: £99+VAT.  Discounts are available for those sending groups from the same practice; please contact course admin ruth.peet@vetmg.com for more information.
