VMG CPD Course: Practice Finance I


Do you find practice accounts daunting?  Not sure how to read your P&L?  Want to be better at keeping track of your client debtors, managing your cashflow, reporting on profits or planning for future growth?  Practice Finance skills will help with all of these.

Understanding practice finances is essential for any veterinary manager.  This course will introduce you to the principles and practice of business finance, to enable you to effectively and efficiently manage financial aspects in your workplace.

On completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of cash flow management to a veterinary organisation
  • Explain the purpose and function of the main financial documents used in a veterinary organisation
  • Assess general organisational performance using appropriate financial measures
  • Calculate a range of financial ratios to assess financial performance
  • Explain and use budget-setting techniques to predict performance and control costs

The course consists of preparatory work, a live interactive workshop, self-directed online learning, and real-world coursework exercises to bring your new knowledge and skills to life.  On completion, you will receive a CPD certificate verifying 25 hours of CPD.
