Rehoming Centre Manager (Live-out) – RC Bridgend, South Wales

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager with an understanding of dog welfare to lead and motivate our team of staff in our Rehoming Centre.

About this job: 

As Rehoming Centre Manager, you’ll:

  • Ensure effective communication in the centre with all staff and active involvement in management meetings, staff briefings and other mechanisms.
  • Support the effective performance management of staff including 1 – 1s, annual appraisals, recruitment of staff and coaching with HR input.
  • Maximise rehoming opportunities through the use of the centre’s facilities and Dogs Trust website and take responsibility for the implementation of strategic initiatives to promote Dogs Trust as the first choice for dog ownership.
  • Ensure the highest welfare standards are maintained in accordance with Dogs Trust policies and procedures for the intake, rehabilitation and rehoming, of the dogs within the centre.
  • Responsible for the preparation and implementation of the annual budget, ensuring the centre operates within the agreed budget.

About you: 

To be successful in this role you will need significant experience of managing and supervising staff teamed with a passion for animal welfare and a knowledge of health and safety requirements. Possessing excellent communication and influencing skills you’ll have the ability to handle challenging situations sensitively, always putting our dogs and customers at the heart of everything you do. You will be a team player, professional and sympathetic, and able to find innovative solutions to problems. You’ll also have experience of managing a budget and controlling expenditure within agreed budgetary limits.

What you need to know: 

The Manager shares on-call duties with other members of the management team and needs to have a full, clean manual driving licence. Working times are Monday to Sunday on a rota basis (subject to change and will be discussed during interview).
