Small Animal Team Leader – Castle Vets, Launceston, Cornwall

We have a vacancy for a Small Animal Team Leader at Castle Vets, in Launceston. We are a large independent mixed animal practice, looking for a key member of the team to provide administration and customer facing support helping us to deliver an efficient, professional and caring veterinary service to the local community.

Your focus will be to lead our wonderful team of receptionists so that our practice continues to provide an excellent service to our clients and their pets providing the important link between our clients and our clinical team.

Your role will play a key part in supporting the practice and the team to overcome any day-to-day challenges. The successful candidate will assist behind the scenes managing day to day organisation to ensure that we deliver a high level of customer service to our clients and help to drive the practice forward. You will also spend time on reception supporting the team and meeting clients.

The role is a full-time position working 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday. A job share may be available for the right candidates.

Person Specification:

  • Ideally having worked within the veterinary sector
  • You have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • You have experience in managing a team
  • You can identify problems before they arise and can intervene to prevent them
  • You enjoy solving customer problems
  • You have the experience of setting up and maintaining procedures and systems
  • You can remain calm and focused whilst working in a fast moving environment
  • You will bring enthusiasm and drive to your role
  • You can deal with everything that is thrown at you, in a calm and professional manner

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead the small animal reception team, dealing with staff rota’s, holidays, training and sickness
  • Managing the practice management system (PMS) system to ensure the smooth running of the day to day in practice
  • Liaising between reception, vets and the nursing team to ensure the smooth running of the small animal department.
  • Credit control for the small animal department
  • Identifying ways for practice improvement to ensure excellent client service
