We are excited to invite you to join our new initiative to help veterinary leaders with the challenges they face in practice.
ShareSPACE is our new Community of Practice (CoP) gathering; an online space to connect with other leaders to discuss and find solutions for the demands of practice management.
A CoP is a peer-to-peer social learning group that allows members to bring their knowledge and experience to share and in turn be developed by learning from other group members.
There are no experts in our CoP, only leaders with their own real-world experience of leading in a veterinary context. All participants will have various knowledge to bring, some will have been in leadership for a while and those new to leadership will bring a different perspective.
Our CoP has three joining principles:

To be working in a veterinary leadership role

To come to the group to engage in joint discussions, help each other and share information

To bring your own experiences of leadership practice to share stories, tools and ways of addressing reoccurring problems
Reasons to join:

Problem solving – are you stuck on a real-world problem and would like to run it by a group of peers?

Information – Has anyone dealt with this before? Where can I find information on x?

Protocols – I have a practice standards inspection coming up does anyone have a template I can use for x?

Confidence building – I have an idea how to do this, but I would like to speak to my community first.

New developments – Has anyone else seen this, what do we think?

Identifying skills gaps – What am I missing?

Building network – You are in my local area, mind if I visit to look at how you do this? Can I call you about that?

Innovation – This problem needs an innovative solution; can I crowd source it with you?
How does ShareSPACE work?
Once every 6 weeks VMG will hold a space online (zoom) for 1 hour between 11:30am-12:30pm. The space will be open to members and non-members, the topics will be decided by the participants but will all be related to veterinary leadership and management.
The sessions will be hosted by Amy Martin (Learning and Development Manager) and Chris White (Operations Development Director), both experienced veterinary leaders.
Dates will be planned in advance for diary management. The day of the week will change Tuesday – Thursday to enable attendance.
