Becci Thorne is currently Divisional Operations Director at Medivet. She qualified as a vet from the RVC in 2011 and spent a few years in practice within independent and charity clinics.

She had a keen interest in surgery in her earlier years and pursued a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice with the University of Liverpool, which she completed and is an advanced practitioner in General Small Animal Surgery. She moved into a Regional Director role with Medivet in January 2017 and was responsible for the operational running of a number of clinics across Coventry, Leicester, Shrewsbury and Nottingham.

In 2019, she moved into a Deputy Head of Clinical operations role within Medivet, looking after a team of Regional Directors based within the North. Since starting with Medivet, she undertook an executive MBA with Warwick University, for which she was awarded a part funded scholarship from the 30% Club. (The 30% Club was launched in the UK in 2010 with a goal of achieving 30% of women on FTSE-100 boards.) She is rightfully proud of this achievement.

She is very passionate about gender equality and seeing amazing women flourishing in senior leadership roles. She finished her MBA in March 2020 and was also awarded a Strategic Leadership Specialism. Her project and dissertation were on Leadership in the Veterinary Profession, in which she was keen to understand the definition of ‘veterinary leadership’ and what the motivating factors for vets applying for these positions are. She hopes to get this work published very soon.

Outside of work, she hails from Wolverhampton, which is in the West Midlands. She lives with her husband Paul, their young daughter Ava and four wonderful rescue cats. She enjoys spending time with family and socialising with friends.
