Chris has worked in a variety of senior operational and project roles within the veterinary world for over 17 years, where he has particularly enjoyed working with people from different backgrounds and perspectives and across different roles to help develop and implement changes for the benefit of patients, clients, colleagues, and the business as a whole.
He spent 7 years at Vets Now in the operations team for both the out of hours and specialist referrals services, then ‘dipped his toe’ into first opinion small animal services with The Vet, before returning to specialist referral management with Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists for 2½ years, and then moving again into first opinion small animal operations as a Senior Business Development Director for VetPartners. He then worked as a project manager for the Pets At Home Veterinary Group before joining an independent practice, Cedar Vets, as Head of Operations in 2023. Yes, he’s been around the block a bit 😊.
Chris has a passion for learning and development. He graduated from Henley Management College with an MBA in 2012 where he developed a broader understanding of all aspects of business and completed the Advanced Level CIPD Diploma in Human Resources Management in 2020 to deepen his understanding employment law, leadership & management development, reward management, coaching & mentoring, employee engagement and performance management.
Since 2020, he has been running his own business (Mongrel Training and Consulting), where he designs and delivers training & facilitation programmes for a variety of audiences in areas such as business strategy, leadership development, and key people management topics, featuring evidence-based content and practical toolkits that can be applied in the workplace.
Chris holds a dual role within VMG – not only is he the Operations and Development Director, but also volunteers as Chair of the VMG Board.
